It is a hard fact of our culture today: recreational singing is on the decline. Families no longer gather around the piano for a little pleasure singing. We are rapidly becoming a culture of listeners, rather than singers, content to let others make music for us. SPEBSQSA and the New Dimension Chorus believes it can be otherwise.

Our Society and our Chapter form an ever-growing singing fraternity of men drawn together by their love of the four-part, a cappella, close-harmony style known as barbershop. Our mission is to perpetuate that style by sharing it and our love for it with people of all ages throughout our community and the world; and to be a leader in the cause of preserving and encouraging vocal music as an enjoyable recreational activity and an essential element in one's cultural well-being.

To accomplish this the New Dimension Chorus seeks men who wish to sing harmony in an environment of good fellowship.

We are proud of the quality of our chorus and the character of our members, and want to share the memorable experiences we have each week with you.

  • No Chorus rehearsalThink you can't sing? Think some people can sing, some can't, and that's it? Nandhu Radhakrishnan, an assistant professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia disagrees with you. According to his research, those who can't sing are those who don't. By simply singing, you can be turned from "I can't sing," to "I can sing." Every Thursday evening, the New Dimension Chorus, presents "Sing in Barbershop-Style," an on-going class to turn those who don't sing into those who can sing. The lessons continue to improve vocal production and ear training for all members. The class begins at 7:00 pm; be sure to arrive early to meet regular chorus members and obtain a welcome packet. 25 November, 2010 7:00pm
