The New Dimension Chorus is a 30 member men’s chorus, one of 800 organized chapters in the BHS, the world’s largest all-male singing organization.

Meeting every week in San Lorenzo, California, the chorus represents the Fremont-Hayward Chapter, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which was chartered in 1996 as the Fremont-Milpitas Chapter in the east San Francisco Bay Area. The chapter filled a vacuum in the a cappella community of southern Alameda County.

In 2003, the chapter organized In Harmony for Asia (IHFA) which raised over $13,000 for the tsunami victims in south eastern Asia, and is currently still active in community service, including raising money for the American Cancer Society.

The New Dimension Chorus was ranked both the Plateau A Champions and Most Improved Chorus at division contest in Spring 2006, and was invited to perform at the Fall District contest, where the chorus was ranked 21st in the 89 chapter Far Western District, including California, Hawaii, Nevada, Arizona, and a portion of Utah.

At Spring Convention in 2007 at Woodside High School, the New Dimension Chorus officially became a "B-Level Chorus," acheiving a combined score of 62.0, and earning a spot at the Far Western District Fall Convention in Phoenix, Arizona September 28-30, 2007. The New Dimension Chorus remained the Plateau A Champions in the Northern California West/Hawaii division of the Far Western District through 2007.

The New Dimension Chorus rehearses weekly under the direction of Interim Director and Vocal Performance Coach Demaster M. Survine IV and Assistant Directors Jeff Harris, Robert Elliot and Bill Sandau. The Chorus holds continuous vocal classes through the year. For Performing at the Fremont Art and Wine Festival more information on the vocal classes, click the "Learn To Sing" link at the top of each page.

The coming year promises to be another blockbuster year for the New Dimension Chorus with two new chapter quartets planning for the Northern California Novice Quartet Competition in 2009. Additionally, for the first time in chapter history, a member of our chapter has been selected to the Far Western District Board of Directors. The year was also a banner year for the New Dimension Chorus’ Singing Valentines.

The New Dimension Chorus is seeking men who enjoy singing four part harmony in the a cappella style, unaccompanied by instruments. Men who sing in the shower, or "bathtub baritones" are always welcome. We are looking to form an ever-growing singing fraternity of men drawn together by their love of singing close harmony and wish to perpetuate and share that style of music throughout the community and the world. We strive to be leaders in the cause of preserving and encouraging vocal music as an enjoyable recreational activity and an essential element in one's cultural well-being.

We are one of several choruses in the San Francisco Bay Area; other local choruses include:

  • No Chorus rehearsalThink you can't sing? Think some people can sing, some can't, and that's it? Nandhu Radhakrishnan, an assistant professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia disagrees with you. According to his research, those who can't sing are those who don't. By simply singing, you can be turned from "I can't sing," to "I can sing." Every Thursday evening, the New Dimension Chorus, presents "Sing in Barbershop-Style," an on-going class to turn those who don't sing into those who can sing. The lessons continue to improve vocal production and ear training for all members. The class begins at 7:00 pm; be sure to arrive early to meet regular chorus members and obtain a welcome packet. 25 November, 2010 7:00pm
